About this service
Renting in Lapland is not like renting anywhere else. Every car comes with studded winter tires, an engine block-heater cable and a scraper as standard equipment rather than paid extras.
The fleet is small and kept in good order: Toyota Yaris, Toyota Corolla and Ford Tourneo Custom. Cars are kept in a heated garage, so they start at minus twenty-five without anybody having to plug them in the night before. Unlimited kilometres on every rental, and 24/7 breakdown assistance, though recovery such as towing or a jump start is not always part of it.
Two things are worth reading before you book, because they are where rental agreements usually surprise people. **Insurance:** the price includes third-party liability and a damage excess of 2 000 euros, with a 500 euro deposit held on your card. A Premium package at 30 euros a day drops the excess to zero and the deposit to 200. Glass, wheels, tyres, undercarriage and the interior sit outside the standard excess. **Driving abroad:** Sweden and Norway are allowed by prior written permission and a 100 euro cross-border fee, and without that permission the insurance cover applies in Finland only.

Questions
Not usually. Our front-wheel-drive cars with studded tires handle plowed roads fine. A 4×4 is worth it for longer trips off the main roads or multi-day aurora hunts.

To Sweden and Norway yes, but it needs our written permission in advance and a 100€ cross-border fee for the rental. This matters more than the fee: without that permission the insurance cover applies in Finland only. Russia is not permitted.
Use the block-heater cable, which comes with every car, at any parking space with an outlet. Our own cars live in a heated garage, so the one you collect starts whatever the thermometer says. We will walk you through it at pickup.
