How it works
Reserve online
Pick your dates, the pick-up place and a car, then one of three protection packages. You pay online by card, and the deposit is reserved on a card in the main driver's name.
Pick up in Rovaniemi
Collect the car at our city centre office, at the airport (car park P3) or at the railway station (Ratakatu 3). Pick-up and return at the airport or the station cost 50€ each.
Return it full
Bring the car back to the agreed place with a full tank. Missing fuel is charged at 3€ a litre plus a 13€ refuelling fee.
About this service
Renting in Lapland is not like renting anywhere else. Every car is ready for winter as standard rather than with paid extras: studded tyres in the winter season, an engine heater and emergency gear.
The fleet is small and kept in good order: Toyota Yaris, Toyota Corolla Touring Sports, the eight-seat Ford Tourneo Custom and a Skoda Kamiq SUV, which is collected from the city centre office. The office has heated indoor parking. Kilometres are unlimited in Finland, and if the car breaks down through a technical fault, help is free in every package, around the clock.
Two things are worth reading before you book, because they are where rental agreements usually surprise people. Insurance: there are three protection packages. GO is included in the price, with a 2 000€ damage excess and a 500€ deposit reserved on your card. SHIELD costs 24.90€ a day and lowers the excess to 500€ and the deposit to 300€. MAX costs 39.90€ a day, takes the excess to zero and the deposit to 200€, and is the only package that covers glass, tyres, wheels, mirrors, the interior and keys. Driving abroad: Sweden and Norway are allowed with our written approval in advance and a foreign use fee of 58.99€ per rental. Without that approval all protection is void, and other countries are not permitted.
Drivers must be at least 18 and have held a licence for a year. Drivers aged 18 to 25 pay a young driver fee of 9.99€ a day on small and estate cars, and the SUV and the van need a driver aged 25 or over. Booking, live prices and the full rental terms are on insidercarrental.com.

Not usually. A front-wheel-drive car on studded tyres handles plowed roads fine. Four-wheel drive matters more on long trips along minor roads.
At our office in Rovaniemi city centre (Korkalonkatu 31-33), at Rovaniemi Airport (car park P3) or at the railway station (Ratakatu 3). Pick-up and return at the airport or the station cost 50€ each, so 100€ for both. The SUV is collected from the city centre office. Pick-up or return outside office hours is possible when agreed in advance, for a service fee.
18 for small and estate cars, with a licence held for at least one year. The SUV and the van need a driver aged 25 or over, and the van a licence held for three years. Drivers aged 18 to 25 pay a young driver fee of 9.99€ a day on small and estate cars.

MAX costs 39.90€ a day, takes the excess to zero and the deposit to 200€, and covers glass, tyres, wheels, mirrors, the interior and keys, which the other two do not. Damage from prohibited use, such as driving on ice roads or snowmobile routes, is charged in full in every package, so read the terms on insidercarrental.com before you choose.
To Sweden and Norway yes, with our written approval in advance and a foreign use fee of 58.99€ per rental. This matters more than the fee: without that approval all protection is void. Driving in other countries is not permitted.
Not if your licence is in the Latin alphabet or in English, as EU, UK, US and Australian licences are. Otherwise bring an International Driving Permit together with your original licence. Every driver also shows a passport or national ID card at pick-up.
Plug in the engine heater, which every car has, at any parking space with an outlet before you set off. We will show you how at pick-up. If the car still will not start because of a technical fault, help is free in every package.
