Arrival, Welcome Drink and Introduction

Arrive at SUMA Sauna & Lounge on the banks of the Kemijoki River. Your host will welcome you, provide a towel, bathrobe and sauna slippers, and introduce the facilities, safety guidelines and the traditions of Finnish sauna culture.

Your Sauna Journey Begins

Explore SUMA’s three saunas at your own pace and in the order you prefer. Experience the authentic atmosphere of the wood-burning sauna, enjoy panoramic views over the Kemijoki River from the electric sauna, or relax in the softer warmth of the steam sauna.

Your host will be available throughout the experience to guide you, answer questions and help you make the most of each sauna.

Between sauna sessions, step outside to relax in the heated outdoor pool and enjoy the surrounding Arctic landscape.

Guests looking for a traditional hot-and-cold contrast may also take a refreshing dip in the Kemijoki River. River swimming is optional and subject to weather, water and safety conditions.

Fire Journey is not divided into separate sauna and dining sections. Part of the dinner is enjoyed between sauna sessions, allowing you to slow down, gather around the open fire and experience Arctic flavours as part of the journey.

Food is served in stages, creating a relaxed rhythm between sauna, fresh air, fire and dining.

Dinner and Relaxation

Complete the experience with the remaining courses of your full dinner package. Relax by the fire or in the lounge and enjoy a meal inspired by Arctic flavours and northern ingredients.

Special dietary requirements can be accommodated when communicated in advance.

End of the Fire Journey

After three unhurried hours of sauna, fire, water and Arctic gastronomy, your host will help you prepare for departure.

Your dinner unfolds in stages throughout the sauna experience. It begins with small fireside bites inspired by Lapland, featuring flavours such as smoked reindeer, malt bread, wild mushrooms, finnish apple and root vegetables. A delicate northern fish course follows, often featuring whitefish and traditional Finnish accompaniments.

The main-course choices are built around reindeer, Arctic char and seasonal forest mushrooms. The evening concludes with a dessert inspired by Finnish cheese and northern berries, followed by a moment by the open fire.
